Veglio Mauro

C.na Nuova, 50 Fraz. Annunziata La Morra CN | T. +39 0173.509212

History

Angelo Veglio, who was born in 1928, has a dream: leaving sharecropping and farming to dedicate himself to wine. In the 1960 he bought his first vineyard, located in Gattera. Of his three children, only Mauro followed his father’s footsteps. In 1987 Mauro married Daniela. 1992 was the year of the first harvest and vinification in the new cellar, that had just been dug next to the foundations of the house at “Cascina Nuova”.

People

In 2017 Mauro and Daniela announced the merger of their company with that of their nephew Alessandro Veglio. This decision was strongly desired in order to bring a breath of fresh air to the working group and guarantee the Mauro Veglio winery a "family-run" future. Alessandro – born in 1982, is Mauro’s brother’s son and he has been running his agricultural company - “Alessandro Veglio” - for ages. However, the time had come for him to think about new spaces and new investments when, talking to Mauro and Daniela, the idea of merging the two businesses was born.

Vineyards

The respect for nature, for the vine and for the territory, the search for a balance between man and the environment: these are the main elements that guide every farming choice in the winery. Today the family owns vineyards in the village of La Morra – Arborina, Rocche dell’Annunziata, Gattera, in Monforte d’Alba – Castelletto, in Barolo – Paiagallo.

Wines

The company deeply believes in the vineyard and in the work between the rows. To produced high-quality wines, it is necessary to work in a way that respects the environment, the vines and the man who works it. The Veglio family produces 6 Barolos and other red wines, the most typical of the Langhe.
