Poderi Marcarini

Piazza Martiri, 2 La Morra CN | T.+39 0173 50222

History

The centuries-old Marcarini winery is located in the centre of the village of La Morra: this family's wine production began in the second half of the 19th century. At the beginning the wine produced was destined for self-consumption and for a small circle of friends; it was at the beginning of the Sixties of the 1900s that the notary Giuseppe Marcarini decided to market his wines, thus starting the present company. In 1996 the company purchased a farmhouse in Neviglie, which was later transformed into a holiday farm, a farm surrounded by vineyards, which were added to their beautiful historic plots in Brunate and La Serra. Over the years, Anna Marcarini Bava took over the management of the company, and it is currently in the hands of her son-in-law Manuel Marchetti and her children Andrea, Chiara and Elisa. A story made up of intelligent choices and hard work, of technique and intuition; a story lived far from the clamour: a story for all lovers of things done well, for friends.

People

The Marcarini family, now in its sixth generation, continues with passion to run the estate vineyards and make wine according to the strictest Piedmontese tradition, in particular according to the Langhe one. Today the company is run by Manuel Marchetti and his three young children – Andrea, Chiara and Elisa.

Vineyards

There are 25 hectares of land, divided between the Langhe and the Roero, with prestigious names: Brunate, La Serra in the municipality of La Morra, Sargentin in the municipality of Neviglie and Muschiavino in the municipality of Montaldo Roero.

The varieties cultivated are exclusively the most suitable for the area: nebbiolo, dolcetto, barbera, arneis and moscato bianco. The wines produced include Barolo Brunate, Barolo La Serra, Dolcetto Boschi di Berri from pre-phylloxera vines and the rare Barolo Chinato, which the company has been producing for many years.
